What is osteoporosis?

Osteoporosis means you are losing bone mass, which results in weakened, fragile bones that are prone to fractures.

Normally, your bones are continually repairing themselves by breaking down old bone and replacing it with new bone. If you’ve been diagnosed with osteoporosis, this balance is disrupted and more bone is removed than added.

There are two types of osteoporosis treatments

Bone-preserving (antiresorptive) medications work by slowing down bone loss, but do not build new bone.

Bone-building (anabolic) medications—like BONSITY—promote the growth of new bone and help increase bone mineral density.
